This push tamper consists of a handle and a flat base, the height of which you can adjust. If you want to lower the base into the handle, you only need to turn it clockwise. Hold the upper part and turn the plate; you will need a little force to do this. The plate may show traces of the lubricant used to treat the thread - the lubricant is food-grade.
Correctly adjusted, the Motta Push Tamper ensures the perfect contact pressure
To use the push tamper correctly, a little preparatory work is necessary: you need to find out the ideal filling level of your sieve, the perfect pressure and the resulting ideal height of the push tamper. Once you have done that, all you need to do in the future is place the tamper on the sieve and press it down as far as it will go. This way, even less experienced barista novices can achieve the right pressure.
